Line-up: Raphael Rogiński (guitar), Mikołaj Trzaska (saxophone, bass clarinett), Macio Moretti (percussion)

The project uses the poem “Libe-lid” by Debora Vogel

Shofar was created a dozen years ago thanks to the meeting of Raphael Rogiński, Mikołaj Trzaska, and Macio Moretti and is a band whose bio has remained unchanged for over a dozen years, eagerly copied 1:1 by everyone. It’s hard to believe it but it’s the truth. This searching for a spiritual denominator, Hasidic niguns, free jazz, something. And indeed, the group looks for a spiritual denominator, mainly in their friendship they established over the years, and plays pieces based on old Hasidic niguns, mainly from the collection of Moshe Bieregowski, sometimes coming very close to the so-called free jazz, but in the meantime, they also managed to play some of their own pieces and even extend the formula to a quartet or quintet several times (with Clayton Thomas, Clementine Gasser and Michael Zerang). They traveled the world, released a few albums, and just before the recent lockdown, they recorded another one, entitled, to match the situation, “Right Before It Started”. The album was carefully mixed by Paweł Krawczyk from the Hey music group and mastered by Sebastian Imbierowicz from the DJ 600V music group. Where do the paths of the searches for the common denominator lead? Let us know ASAP.
