Lecture: The world long gone – a story by Abraham Joshua Heschel about East European Jews | Hanna Kossowska
The subject of the meeting will be the story of the traditions, customs and everyday life of Eastern European Jews.
Inseparably tied to the faith, the spiritual and material culture gives us the image of a Shtetl, a town where Jews lived in a continuous rhythm of everyday activities and weekly celebration of Shabbat, counted down by the hours of prayers and preparations for holidays, they praised God with joy often mixed with the sorrow and expressed by one word only – oy!
Hanna Kossowska studied art history and ethnography as well as painting and graphics. Actress, painter, mashgiach and the Jewish culture activist. For many years, connected with festivals: Singer’s Warsaw in Warsaw, Zbliżenia in Gdańsk and Jewish Culture Festival in Kraków.
