The outstanding clarinetist Christian Dawid – Resident Guest of this year’s Singer Jazz Festival will perform with Ensemble Tuning with: Tomasz Pawlicki (flute, electronic instruments), Jakub Ziołek (electronic instruments, guitar), Rafał Gorzycki (percussion, piano)
Rafał Gorzycki’s newest trio is a new version of his trio-triptych that was started by his album “Playing” (the 3rd position on Top Ten of Polish Jazz 2016). “Ensemble Tuning” album was released last year by the Kraków-based studio Audio Cave and promoted by the Polish Radio Program 2. The trio’s goal is to work on the sound, transforming and exposing it as the main element of their musical creation.
“Ensemble Tuning” was founded by exceptional musicians: Tomasz Pawlicki – flutist and composer, one of the best instrumentalists in Poland, concertmaster of Opera Nova in Bydgoszcz, Jakub Ziołek – winner of Polityka Passport Award in 2016, leader of several important projects and bands operating on the verge of experimental, electronic and improvised music, multi-instrumentalist playing electronic instruments and guitar as well as the project’s leader who plays the percussion and is the composer, Rafał Gorzycki, recognized as one of the most important and most creative artists of the contemporary jazz and chamber music in Poland. So far, he recorded 22 albums and won several awards, prizes, and scholarships.
